Stations of the Cross Booklet – Catholic PlaygroundUse St. With children I like to go over the pronunciation of the prayers and the hymn before we go to Stations on Friday so the children are more able to sing the Stabat Mater. It is nice to explain Our Lady's Sorrow, too, so that the song reminds them of her. I also like to explain the standing and kneeling that we will be doing because it seems like a lot to little ones who are making the Stations the first time. Our congregation fills our chapel on Friday nights, so the children cannot always see what Father and the altar boys are doing, so we like to put them on the aisle for a better view. The Stations of the Cross are a step Catholic devotion that commemorates Jesus Christ's last day on Earth as a man. The 14 devotions, or stations, focus on specific events of His last day, beginning with His condemnation. The stations are commonly used as a mini pilgrimage as the individual moves from station to station.
