Rick Steves' Amsterdam, Bruges and Brussels
So I've been reading all these reviews about all kinds of guide books. We will be first time travelers. We will only have a few days at each city max. But with all the options out there, I do not know which is the right fit for us, as I do not want to spend a lot of money on books, but want to be well informed. Selecting guide books are kind of personal i guess.
Who but Rick Steves can tell travelers the best ways to meander around Amsterdam's Van Gogh museum, explore its maze of canals, and find the tastiest breweries and restaurants? Completely revised and updated, this guide includes: opinionated coverage of both famous and lesser-known sights, friendly places to eat and sleep, suggested day plans, walking tours and trip itineraries, and clear instructions for smooth travel anywhere by car, train, or foot. Rick Steves is on a mission: to help make European travel accessible and meaningful for Americans. Rick has spent days every year since exploring Europe. He's researched and written 24 travel guidebooks and hosts the public television series Rick Steves' Europe, now in its seventh season. He also organizes and leads tours of Europe and offers an information-packed website www.
My husband and I only have 9 days to travel this summer. The 9 days include our flight days, so we'd have 7 days on the ground. We have never been to Amsterdam, Brussels or Bruges and are wondering if we could have a fun trip in 7 days without overly rushing everything. It seems that flying both in and out of Amsterdam is the most cost effective, but perhaps it's still better to fly into Amsterdam and leave from Brussels. What would be a good itinerary for us? We are interested in the canals, medieval history, museums history and art , historical landmarks, and would also love to see some countryside, if possible. Plus, we definitely want to take at least one bike tour.
